Sensory Motor Activities and Interactive Metronome!

BrainSync is a sensory motor brain training approach to improve sensory processing, attention, focus, motor skills, temporal timing, and emotional regulation to help children thrive! At BrainSync we utilize a series of sensory motor activities (reflex integration movement patterns, sensory integrative activities, ocular motor skills, core strength, gross motor balance and coordination, fine motor skills such as handwriting, and brain hemispheric balance activities) along with Interactive Metronome (IM) to optimize brain development!INTERACTIVE METRONOME is an evidence based therapeutic brain training program developed to improve the processing abilities that affect attention, motor planning, body awareness, and sequencing which in turn has been shown to improve motor skills, attention, focus, social skills, memory, speech/language, executive functioning, comprehension, and sensory skills.

Who Can Benefit?

Kiddos struggling with attention, focus, sensory processing issues (picky eating, difficulty sleeping, sensory defensiveness, sensory seeking behaviors), handwriting, self regulation issues, motor planning concerns, low tone, and more.
Those living with ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Sensory Processing Disorders, and other learning issues.
Athletes who want to improve performance and give them that edge!
Elderly people wanting to be proactive regarding fall prevention
Anyone wanting to enhance their brain development!

Who will be your Sensory Motor Instructor?

Becky is a wife and mother of two wonderful teenage children and one adorable cockapoo. She is passionate about seeing children thrive and achieve optimal brain development. She has spent much of her adult life focused towards this cause. Becky graduated from the University of Western Ontario in Occupational Therapy and has practiced for 10 years (in Canada and New Zealand). While in New Zealand, she designed and delivered full day workshops across the country and into Australia educating parents, caregivers, teachers and other therapists on how to support children with sensory processing issues. She retired from OT to raise her own children and pursue a business in nutrition. During that time, she added optimizing child development through nutrition to her knowledge base. She delivered educational sessions on how to support prevention of developmental issues through sensory, motor, and nutritional means to new parents. She has been researching, and diving into sensory motor approaches, such as reflex integration, ocular motor skills training, rhythmical passive movements, brain hemispheric balance, and much more. Believing that the brain is neuro-plastic she provides various movement patterns and activities to address sensory processing issues, fine and gross motor skills, balance and coordination, reflex integration, self regulation and more. She has been very successful helping children make huge strides in their handwriting, attention and focus, self regulation, eating and sleep issues, and sensory defensiveness!Becky is a CERTIFIED INTERACTIVE METRONOME Service Provider. After researching the program and seeing how much Interactive Metronome (IM) aligns with her vision of helping children thrive in their development, she knew she had to offer this program to her community. The evidence is overwhelming in the areas of attention, focus, motor skills, sensory skills, cognition, and more. She plans to expand and offer the Interactive Metronome program to families of aspiring athletes capitalizing on the neuroplasticity of the brain. Knowing what it’s like to raise a high level athlete (her 15 year old son, Ty, is a AAA hockey player) alongside her knowledge of child development and thus how to promote and optimize sensory and motor skills, she will make it possible for other athletes and their parents to achieve the performance edge they are looking for! Interactive Metronome is utilized in over 30,000 prestigious hospitals, clinics, universities, and sports team such as Notre Dame, the Miami Dolphins among others. When Becky is not working with kiddos, she loves going for walks, loves nature, the beach, sunsets, camping, cottaging, board and party games, spike ball, pickle ball, and having meaningful conversations with friends! She loves to laugh, loves being a kid herself, and can’t get enough cuddles from her dog :)

Becky has changed my son's life. We started seeing Becky when my son turned 2. He barely was talking, had challenges with sensory (couldn’t be wet/dirty, wouldn’t chew food properly, balance issues) and was having extreme meltdowns daily. After 3 months of weekly visits, my heart explodes with happiness to say he is a different child. He climbs at the playground, gets on a balance bike, eats everything, laughs, talks and just started swimming. I tell everyone about Becky! She cares so much about children and spends so much time preparing for each lesson to make sure it is customized. Providing my son with the extra support from Becky has truly changed his life! Feel so lucky we found her!

We have been working with Becky for almost 7 months now and we are very pleased with the progress our 4 year old daughter has made. She is developing a confidence with her movement that seemed to be lacking before. She is now challenging herself with activities involving balance, jumping, and climbing. Becky is wonderful to work with and always meets my daughter where she is at that day. She was able to connect with my daughter right away and always makes her feel comfortable. We are especially grateful for the way she has helped our daughter learn to print both uppercase and lowercase letters and to tie shoes. She has picked them up so quickly because of Becky's teaching style. Becky provides tasks and challenges for us to work on at home in between sessions and lots of ideas for positive independent activities. She has been so flexible with scheduling, it is easy to find a day and time that will work. We are eager to continue working with her.

Cavin is a sweet 6 year old boy whose parents came to me looking for support for his handwriting (printing) skills. Upon chatting further we discovered that nighttime has been a challenge for him. Getting and staying asleep was difficult often taking up to 2 hours to fall asleep and then difficult to stay asleep. In addition, he was bedwetting most night. We looked at some of his primitive reflexes and began sensory motor activities to help support integration of the spinal galant, meet his sensory needs, and more. We also began a handwriting program. Cavin has been coming to his Sensory Motor sessions once a week for an about 5-6 weeks. We have great news! Mom has reported that his bedtime is much easier falling asleep within 5-10 minutes and staying asleep! He is no longer wetting his bed at night! She also reports that the teachers have noticed neater handwriting work at school! Wow! What great work this family has done following up with the activities at home. It’s magic watching kids thrive! We are now layering on brain hemispheric balancing work and movements to the metronome. Watch this space! Well done, Cavin!! (Note: upon reviewing this testimonial Briar - Cavin’s mom replies with: “Spot on! Thank you so much for everything!”
